Shelter-in-place and social-distancing regulations have been keeping many Americans home in the past few months as the coronavirus pandemic continues to loom over the nation. Households have turned to streaming television shows to pass the time, re-watching familiar favorites for comfort and discovering newer series.
CableTV.com recently conducted a survey to discover the most popular television series in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C. Gathering data from nearly 7,000 viewers, the results show some states seek local representation, while others are playing the hits. Far and away, “Friends” is the top show in the country. The NBC sitcom was named the most popular series in 11 states, including seven of the 10 most populated ones: California, Texas, Florida, New York, North Carolina, Georgia and Ohio, where it tied with “NCIS.” Most Popular Show in Every State During Coronavirus – Variety

Dare I suggest that you turn off the facade of the TV show “Friends” and let your loneliness flood your soul?
Why binge watch the worthless when God has graciously granted you a chance to do little else but seek His love and fellowship.
Let the loneliness sink in deep and hard. Let your loneliness drive you to your knees in prayer.
Pray the prayer of Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. (Psalm 25:16)
How can I describe to you the beauty of Him who carries my loneliness? To be sure there are days of deep loneliness but somehow He helps me to carry the burden. Those that have loved the deepest in the Holy Spirit can suffer the worst of loneliness. Jesus dying upon the cross cried out And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?”–which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Mark 15:34) He who was love suffered in no uncertain terms periods of loneliness.
So, I say again, sink down deep into the despair of loneliness and pray unto the Living God. Surrender your life, offering to God your life and He will work a mighty deliverance. Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God–this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:1-2)
It is the rebellious and stiff necked who refuse to turn off the TV that are destined to live in a sun-scorched land.

  • God sets the lonely in families, he leads forth the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land. (Psalm 68:6)

God will, if you are willing to take steps of faith bring you into His family. His holy family of love, joy and peace. For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge–that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. (Ephesians 3:14-21)
If only churches would do this they might be blessed by God to truly have a love by His Holy Spirit that all can tell there is really something different.

  • …and who also told us of your love in the Spirit. (Colossians 1:8)

There is no need to waste this Pandemic with the required isolation when you could be taking advantage, eternal advantage, to seek the Living God. A good God that is full of life, friendship and a love that lays down one’s life for another. 
Do this and God will fill you with Mercy, peace and love in abundance. (Jude 1:2)
